Past Baby Parades

This was the float for Baby Parade 2008. It was just 1 baby. We went into this parade not knowing the high standards that are involved. We did it just for fun with a single stroller. People thought it was cute but it didn't get the wow factor thats others received. It was all Irish and was adorable. A sleeping baby in the stroller added to the cuteness. We were out of our league and we learned for the next year.

Baby Parade 2009. We stepped it up. 3 babies in one wagon. Not our brightest idea. The theme was rub-a-dub-dub 3 men in a tub. It was the butcher holding a lamb, the baker complete with a bakers hat and measuring cup, and the littlest candlestick maker with a candle hat being held by mommy except for the judging. This one was definitely the hardest to construct by far. Construction was done in a house far away from judging so we had to take it apart and transport it and then recreate it in the parking lot. We were almost late for judging as our construction manager JV needed his coffee causing a stir as K and N sat in the car waiting anxiously. It was fun but ultimately we did not win. Still out of our league.

Baby Parade 2010. K, our artistic director, really stepped it up this year. All three wagons are covered on all four sides and look like the trains. She used pictures and books to draw all features of Thomas, James, and Percy. Three separate wagons for three boys really worked out well.  We did have some issues figuring out what division we qualified for. But the Voice of the Boardwalk Patricia really helped us out and her assistant said that ours was amazing and that we should totally win. The parade day came and it was raining. N, E, and A pulled the wagons complete with personalized shirts, braids, and bandanas. The boys had train conductor hats and train whistles. The rain couldn't stop the smiles and the boys charmed the crowds and judges. When we came to the end of the parade route a man came up and told N that we had won a prize and to go back to the parade headquarters. Our wagons were loaded onto a truck and we all headed by car to headquarters. We were awarded 3rd place in our division. It was a great day and now we knew what it took to be winners.
